Sailing yachts come in a huge variety of forms. In recent years Catamarans have become increasingly popular, especially in charter fleets - their combination of level, comfortable sailing and onboard spaciousness making them a big hit with yacht charterers. But sloops, ketches and especially Turkish and Asian Gulets are also much in demand.
Racing sailing yachts are however still very much the domain of monohulls, from small one-design series to the beautiful J-Class yachts normally associated with the original America's Cup Yachts.
Technology has also played a major part in increasing the popularity of sailing yachts, Captive-winch systems make sail handling of even large sails an effortless joy, while bow and stern thrusters make any yacht spin on a dime if required when mooring.
