A DINING SENSATION ONBOARD 'EXPLORA I'
Recently, Clare Dudley from the highly-respected Independent Travel Company ‘Ponders Travel’, was fortunate enough to sail onboard her and experience the luxurious accommodation and wonderful dining options that guests will enjoy onboard:
“Explora I is a truly elegant and luxurious ship. I adore how the decor has been designed to flow naturally from one area to another, yet the individuality of each space has its own soul. The soothing colour palette and use of beautiful art and ornaments create an inviting atmosphere. The soft suede chairs and sofas in many public spaces are comfortable and elegant at the same time. The Whiskey Bar which feels like a gentleman’s club has an abundance of leather Chesterfield styled sofas.
Dining on board is a real treat with a huge array of choices through the six restaurants and two specialty eateries. I will share a little in each…
Emporium Market Place
Serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Buffet style layout but designed so that only the staff can serve you from the huge choices available. For breakfast, you can enjoy a huge array of fresh and healthy options. Lunch options range from themed salads to grilled burgers, fish, sushi, pizza, and pasta. Dinner choices include pasta with various sauces, risotto, grilled meats, lobster, oysters, and themed dishes from different countries. The dessert options too enticing and feature many wonderful choices - all at zero calories of course!
Creperie and Gelateria
Right next door to the Emporium Market Place is a delicious Creperie and Gelateria, where you can enjoy freshly made pancakes, waffles with assorted toppings, a wide selection of fruits, ice cream and sorbets.
The Pan-Asian restaurant, is one of two restaurants that you will need to pre book a reservation for. It also serves lunch and provides outdoor dining on deck 5. The lunch menu includes a wonderful sushi selection while the dinner menu offers an array of tantalising taste options from across Asia.
Marble & Co Grill
The other specialty restaurant is Marble & Co Grill, which only opens for dinner. Signature dishes include Osetra Caviar with edible gold leaf served on a bed of smashed potatoes, I tried this and loved it, as well as aged beef, veal, and pork racks.
A French-themed restaurant will offer breakfast and lunch daily. Hot breakfast items are sourced from here, and the dinner menu was the favourite for our group of 4 as there was so much choice and every meal was truly scrumptious. Reservations are not required here.
Med Yacht Club
Here you can enjoy a Mediterranean-themed dining experience. The menu showcases grilled fish, local pastas, and grilled meats, among other Mediterranean delights.
For those who need a quick bite the Crema Cafe offers lattes, cappuccinos, coffee, teas, cookies, pastries and panini sandwiches throughout the day, alongside a full bar.
The Anthology Restaurant
Boasts a 3-star Michelin chef, Mario Uliassi, as its featured chef. The featured chef will change every four months. This restaurant carries a supplement of 190 Euros without the wine pairing and 75 Euros for the wine pairing. The waitlist for Chef Uliassi's restaurant in Italy is around six months long, making this restaurant a truly special experience.
Finally, afternoon tea is a daily treat in the Explora lounge. Here you can enjoy a wide range of specially crafted teas for Explora I, traditional scones, clotted cream, whipped cream, jam, tea sandwiches, sweets, and the option to pair it all with a glass of rosé champagne while enjoying the view from the bow of the ship.
I enjoyed every restaurant and every meal. The food was first class which was matched perfectly with the wine on offer, the attentive service and the decor of each restaurant.
What an experience!”
