2 WEEK .......... SARONIC ISLANDS FLOTILLA
Our Saronic flotilla starts and finishes in Astrous, a small, stunning fishing village with excellent tavernas and friendly locals.
The first few days of the flotilla will be spent sailing south along the Eastern coast of the Peloponnese visiting some of the most beautiful ports the coastline has to offer including Tiros, Plaka and Kyparissi. The flotilla may aim to visit the stunning port of Monemvasia (weather permitting!). Dhokos Island is a popular spot where we often host flotilla beach parties in the large sheltered bay with spectacular sunsets.
Why choose to sail in the Saronic Islands?
When we sail in this area, we always wish we had another week, as there are so many places to explore! We are often amazed to find some harbours uncrowded, even in August and the welcome in each place gives you a taste of true Greek hospitality. The local wine is delightful, the food some of the best we have tasted and the ambience is addictive.
What's the weather and wind like?
The winds in the Saronic Islands are generally from the south east and fairly consistent. This means you can often enjoy great sailing throughout the day rather than just in the afternoons (like the Ionian Islands). The whole area offers great sailing without any significant swell, however it can be stronger than some are used to, so a previous flotilla or other sailing experience is a good idea for this area.
